I experienced the locking up of my Notes and like previously mentioned, the resolution for me was to undue the auto login of Sametime. Once I did that, I was able to access my email and later manually login to Sametime without issues. I thought it might have something to do with my client being the full client with Admin and Developer, but today an associate who has just the Notes client reported the same issue. The fix worked where I disabled the auto login to Sametime. We are both on Windows 7 64-bit and local administrators of our machines. In the Application event viewer the following gets reported:
The program notes2.exe version 3.4.0.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

In the System Event Viewer the following is reported at the same time:
TCP/IP failed to establish an outgoing connection because the selected local endpoint was recently used to connect to the same remote endpoint. This error typically occurs when outgoing connections are opened and closed at a high rate, causing all available local ports to be used and forcing TCP/IP to reuse a local port for an outgoing connection. To minimize the risk of data corruption, the TCP/IP standard requires a minimum time period to elapse between successive connections from a given local endpoint to a given remote endpoint.
